A(lma)fraid of dolls:
Juvenile admission since it starts off so innocently, but I was spooked out by the entire premise of the following from Pixar animator Rodrigo Blaas. I just knew something was afoot from the first glance of that f***ing doll in the window, when I instinctively started thinking “Don’t do it, kid!”
Just going to throw it out there that these irrational pangs of fear may have tainted any artistic objectivity I have for an otherwise extremely well-done animation.I don’t want to be a spoiler here, but dolls are creepy. Especially when they poltergeist from place to place and you eventually become one. Yikes.
Doll-related anxiety aside, I appreciate this short film, as do the many who have sung its praises in the animation world, but I especially appreciate that it came out last Christmas to teach those damn kids a lesson about vanity and/or irrational wants. *shudder*
