Alejandra’s World of Pretty
Flipping through Alejandra Quesada’s interactive fashion book, I found sketches, prints, accessories, clothes and I found them to be flirty, feminine, and quirky (LOVE.) Her Spring/Summer 2010 looks are not only evocative of little girl skirts and rainbow tops but they are made for women’s bodies. Without looking like little girls, women can remember what it was like—happy summer days, twirly skirts, frills.
And Fall/Winter 09/10? Very teenage girl in the seventies vibe. There’s one short purple dress in particular that I found myself zeroing in on; it’s embroidered along the neck and the hemline. It’s short enough to be both sweet and sexy at the same time, if you’ve got the legs for it. If not, leggings or jeans will work underneath it with cute shoes or cool (motorcycle) boots for a contrast.
This is the kind of design that is wearable and fun to accessorize and mix up. I can imagine all the bright colours combined with dark denim, black trousers, or leggings. I can see it all with this season’s little cardigans and with coordinating scarves. It’s ready-to-wear and oh-so-irresistable to a quirky off-beat girl like myself.
