A Softer World for Such a Plain One
There are moments in this misty sort of confusion we call our lives where we see something that sort of reminds us that things are usually more good than bad. It is so easy to be cynical and people think that it may be better to be cynical because there lays the mystery. Because you know, dark and mysterious is all the rage. Does it make someone deep? Maybe. If its genuine. But there has to be a balance to everything. I know. I know. What a tool Mac. Yin and Yang. I know. I know. But sunny people get annoying and dark people seem kinda fake. But asofterworld.com….seems to have found the perfect formula.
A Softer World is run by two people with a refreshing outlook on this world. I’m proud that this is a Canadian thing. At least. I think it is. My research. Good. Not. So. Much. These comics are something I look at and realize that, unlike me, these two are showing that the newer generations aren’t a total waste. The photos. Which I’m pretty sure are done by Emily. Are different and I think a good reflection of a person’s mind; scattered but with a single image you know must exist. They attract the eyes and have a very nice blend and contrast with the zingers that bring out the entire genius of the strip. The lines themselves. Which, by process of elimination, must be written by Joey (but don’t listen to me. Not so sure. You know. Brain. Has problems) are non-conventional, clever and smirk inducing. A softer world is a really genuine approach in social commentary. And in a place where social commentary can be done by anyone (I know. I’m a tool for even trying) with absolutely no sound mind (I know) these two find a way to make us look at everything that builds who we are and laugh at the whole grand opera.
